What actually changes when you move to Shopify Plus
The upgrade itself is a plan change. The value is in a handful of features you only get on Plus, and only if someone sets them up. This is the list.
| Area | On your current Shopify plan | On Shopify Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Checkout | Branding settings and apps in limited spots. Deeper checkout changes aren’t available. | Plus Checkout UI extensions across the checkout steps, plus custom Functions for discounts, delivery and payment rules. |
| Custom logic | Public apps that use Shopify Functions. | Plus Your own custom Functions, built for your rules. Shopify Scripts are being retired, so any Scripts you have move to Functions. |
| B2B | Wholesale apps or a second store. | Plus Native B2B: company accounts, locations, catalogs, price lists and payment terms on the same store. |
| More stores | Each store on its own plan. | Plus Expansion stores under one organisation admin, for regions or brands. |
| Automation | Shopify Flow is available on most plans. | Plus Launchpad for scheduled sales and theme switches, plus Flow connected to Plus-only triggers. |
| Your data | Products, customers, orders, apps, theme. | Unchanged All of it stays. Nothing is exported or imported. |
Your URLs stay, your checkout grows
On Plus nothing moves, so nothing needs redirecting. What changes is what sits behind the same URLs, plus any new market or expansion domains.
Illustrative.
Is Shopify Plus worth it for your store?
Plus costs a lot more than standard plans, and the bill arrives whether you use the features or not. We meet stores that upgraded because they hit a revenue number and then changed nothing, which is the expensive way to do Plus.
It pays when at least one of these is true: you’re running wholesale on a second store or a patchy app and want it in one admin; your checkout needs logic Shopify can’t do out of the box, like delivery rules by postcode or payment methods hidden for certain baskets; or you’re opening stores for new regions or brands.
When we’d say wait
If none of those apply and the reason is “it feels like the next step”, wait. A conversion review or speed work on your current plan usually earns more for the money. When you do move, the upgrade needs no data migration, so you lose nothing by waiting until there’s a clear job for Plus to do.

Questions to ask before you upgrade to Shopify Plus
Ask your Shopify contact, us or anyone else. Good answers are specific.
What will Plus let us do in 90 days?
If the answer is vague, the upgrade can wait. A good answer names a checkout change, a B2B setup or a new store.
Which of our Scripts or apps become Functions?
You should get a list, with what each one does today and how it will be rebuilt.
How will B2B buyers log in and order?
Look for a clear plan for company accounts, catalogs, payment terms and how existing wholesale customers are invited.
What do we stop paying for?
Apps replaced by Plus features should be named, so the extra plan cost is partly offset.

Do we have to migrate our data to move to Plus?
No. Shopify Plus is an upgrade of your existing store, so products, customers, orders, theme and apps stay where they are. Intelligize Digital focuses on what Plus changes: checkout, Functions, B2B and expansion.
What happens to our checkout customisations?
Checkout changes made in theme files are rebuilt as checkout UI extensions and branding settings, which are upgrade-safe and editable in the checkout editor.
Can Functions replace our discount apps?
Often, yes. Tiered, bundle and conditional discounts, plus delivery and payment rules, can be built as Shopify Functions running inside Shopify.
Is B2B worth it on Plus?
If you run a wholesale store or a wholesale app, native B2B companies, catalogs and payment terms usually let you serve both on one store.
Will the store go offline during the upgrade?
No. The plan change and the publishing of extensions happen on the live store without downtime; new work is built and tested on a development store first.
How long does a Shopify Plus upgrade take?
The plan change is quick. The work that makes Plus useful, such as checkout extensions, Functions and B2B, usually takes a few weeks and is built on a development store first.
Do Shopify Scripts still work on Plus?
Shopify is retiring Scripts in favour of Functions. If you have Scripts, we rebuild them as Functions and test both side by side before switching.
Can we run wholesale and retail on one Shopify Plus store?
Yes. Native B2B lets trade buyers log in to see their own catalogs, prices and payment terms, while retail customers see the normal store.
